Cycle Safety

Kia ora,

We are so happy to be back at school and to be back into the swing of things!

This week the Korimako year 6's have had the chance to take part in Cycle Safety lead by the Christchurch City Council. This is a two day programme that teaches students the road rules for when they are out cycling as well as basic cycle maintenance.

A highlight for the students has definitely been the opportunity to ride around the Prestons neighbourhood. It has been the perfect practice ground as they have been able to learn how to ride through roundabouts, make right turns and learn how to use the traffic lights.

  1. Hi Marshland school I am Anthony from Waikowhai Primary School. I really liked the photos on your blog! I really liked the picture with the bike on the road ,I wish I could ride a bike on a road. Anyways it would be really cool if you can explain where you guys went for cycling. As well as what you went past and saw. That's all I wanted to ask you for now. It reminds me of the first time I rode my bike when I was 6 years old. It would be nice if you guys can check out my blog on this link https://wpsanthonys.blogspot.com/ Thank you see you later.

  2. Kia ora Korimako,

It is really great to see all your lovely faces enjoying cycle safety lessons. How great to be able to use your local community to practise the skills. Those nice new roads are probably great for riding on.

    Thanks for sharing,
:) Sharon - Te Ara Tūhura Education Programme Leader
